Kind of Expressions

1. Expressing interest

It's so pleasure when we speak about interest or hobby, right. And then how do we give expression interest ?
Well, here is some example of expressing interest

- What's your hobby ?
_ My hobby is reading
- Do you have any special interest other than your job ?
_ Ya, I'm interested in learning French
- What do you do in your spare time ?
_ I write novels
in my spare time

2. Expressing opinion

According to www.en.wikipedia.org, opinion is a subjective statement or thought about an issue or topic, and is the result of emotion or interpretation of facts. An opinion may be supported by an argument, although people may draw opposing opinions from the same set of facts. Opinions rarely change without new arguments being presented. However, it can be reasoned that one opinion is better supported by the facts than another by analysing the supporting arguments.

3. Agreement and Disagreement

These below is some expression of agreeing


=> Yes, I agree (with you)
=> Yes, of course!
=> You're right!
=> That's right!
=> That's a good idea!
=> Absolutely!

Asking about agreement

Do you agree?
Don't you agree?
Wouldn't you agree?
Don't you think so?

These below is some expressions of disagreeing

=> I'm afraid I dissagree / can't agree with you
=> I'm not sure about that
=> No, I think..
=> I don't think so
=> Yes, that's may be true, but...
=> I see what you mean, but...

You need to be very polite when disagreeing with someone in English, even someone you know quite well (www.paulnoll.com)

4. Greeting

I still remember, kind of greetings is one of I want to know when the first I learned English beside words of 'I', 'you', 'thank you'. Haha !! Why ? Ya... we always use it (greeting) in daily conversation although as we know that here we use more 'Assalamualaikum' as a greeting. According to www.thefreedictionary.com, greeting is a word or gesture of welcome or salution. Greeting can be expressed not only from words like 'Hi!' and others but it can be expressed by smile :) and wave hand.

- Hi !
_ How are you?
-I'm fine. And you ?
_I'm fine too.
